Short Answer: The VIVO DESK-V036KB 36" is the best riser desk for most dual monitors. It has a 36" x 15.7" surface area, can hold up to 33lbs, and can be raised between 4.5" and 20". If you have heavy monitors or want to use the button to raise the height then the VERSADESK PowerPro 36" can hold up to 80lbs. If you have two large monitors then you will need a larger surface area such as the Rocelco 46". Before purchasing check how much your monitors weigh, how wide they are compared to the surface area, and how high they can be raised.
Will a Riser Desk Hold Two Monitors?
Whilst most risers are not designed to hold 2 monitors. The extra weight and width of 2 monitors means if you have a tall, slim, platform and a desk that wasn’t specifically chosen for this purpose. There are 3 key factors to consider:
- Weight capacity. 2 monitors, a laptop plus accessories can quickly add up.
- Width and Depth. 2 monitors placed next to each other will require a wider platform than many dual monitor options.
- Full height stability. Heavier and wider setups will cause more bending in the platform.
The options below all meet these criteria. You can view below to see if your setup meets the criteria.

VIVO DESK-V036KB 36": Best Value for Dual Monitors
Platform: 36" × 15.7" | Capacity: 33 lbs | Lift range: about 4.5"–20"
This is the most consistently recommended wide manual riser that will easily fit two monitors on the 36" upper level. It has a keyboard tray that can be moved in lockstep with the platform. Plus, the lift height should be high enough for most standing heights.
Downside: This is a standard weight limit of 33lbs so make sure you are not exceeding this. Manual lift requires a touch of effort when changing positions.
Best for: Home office setups with two 22-24" monitors or laptop and monitor.
VERSADESK PowerPro 36": Best for Heavy Loads
Capacity: 80 lbs | Platform: 36" dual tier | Lift: electric
The 80 lb capacity of this electrical converter means there is plenty of headroom if you have large monitors and/or monitor arms and accessories. The push button adjustment makes it easy to adjust without having to lift. Wider 40" and 48" versions are available.
Trade-off: higher price, and it needs an outlet and a cable route.
Best for: heavy dual-monitor rigs and anyone who changes position often.
Vari Pro Plus 36: Best Build and Zero Assembly
Capacity: about 35 lbs | Platform: 36" dual tier | Height settings: 11 | Price: about $429 in recent roundups
This is a very easy to use monitor stand. It comes almost fully assembled. It has a very smooth and stable rising mechanism, which has been praised in all of the reviews. The main features are similar to the VIVO for 2 monitors. So you pay a premium for it to look nice and be easy to set up.
Trade-off: the highest price among the manual options, for a similar weight limit.
Best for: buyers who want a finished, low-hassle workstation, or offices standardizing on one model.
Rocelco 46" (R DADRB-46): Widest Platform
Platform: about 46" wide | Lift: gas-spring assist | Tray: retractable keyboard tray
Most dual monitor risers will have issues with width. This one doesn’t. With a 46" surface you can fit two larger screens or three smaller screens.
Will require a large desk. The larger the platform the more flexible it will be with heavy weights. Check the weight rating on the listing. This will vary depending on model and retailer.
Best for: two large monitors, ultrawide setups, or triple-screen desks.
Ergotron WorkFit-TL: Premium Durability
Width: about 37.5" | Capacity: about 40 lbs
A luxury option with great durability and smooth counterbalance lifting. However, it is also much more expensive than the VIVO and FlexiSpot options.
Best for: buyers who want to buy once and not think about it again.
FlexiSpot 36" Converter: Quick Setup
Capacity: about 33 lbs | Platform: 36"
A mechanical spring converter with a steel frame and quick assembly. Very similar to the VIVO V036KB. Price, finish and warranty will be the deciding factor.
Best for: buyers who want a 36" platform and a straightforward setup.
Will Your Two Monitors Actually Fit?
This is the most commonly overlooked spec. If it says it fits dual monitors it will not say what type of monitors.
Step 1: Check Total Weight
Add all of your monitors, or monitor stands, laptop if applicable and accessories. Most 24"-27" monitors have a weight of between 8-20lbs. This means if you have two monitors, a laptop and some accessories you could easily be looking at 30-45lbs. This will be above or equal to many converters. Leave a few pounds in your weight allowance and check your monitor spec sheets for the weight.
Step 2: Check Width
Standard 16:9 monitors measure roughly:
| Monitor size | Approximate panel width |
|---|---|
| 22" | 19" |
| 24" | 21" |
| 27" | 23.5" |
| 32" | 28" |
Two 24" monitors will require approximately 42". Two 27" monitors will require approximately 47". A 36" platform can be used if you angle them slightly inwards, making a 'V' shape, or using arms to mount them but won't fit two 27" screens flat and parallel. If your monitors are large then look for a 42"-46" platform.
Step 3: Check Depth and Stand Footprint
Platform depths are often between 15" to 16". Some are even deeper at 22". The depth of base of your monitor stands should be checked to ensure they do not overhang the platform.
Step 4: Check Your Desk
The converter should be placed on a desk that is at least as wide as the platform, but approximately 24" in depth. If the converter is 36", then the desk should be at least approximately 40" in width for comfortable use.
Monitor Arms vs Monitors on the Platform
Monitors can be mounted directly on the platform. Alternatively arms can be clamped or mounted to the platform. This allows more space on the platform and accurately positions the screens. They will only work if the platform has the correct edge. The arms will add weight to the converter. Some converters have double monitor mounts built in. Be sure to check the maximum size and weight of monitors that can be used on any built-in mounts as they are often less than the platforms maximum rating. See our monitor height guide and dual-monitor ergonomics for positioning.
Lift Range: Will It Reach Your Standing Height?
A converter only helps if it lifts your keyboard and screens to the right height. Use this formula:
Lift you need = your standing desk height − your current desk height
Use our standing desk height calculator to find your number. For example, if you require a height of around 44" and your desk is 29" tall, you will need around 15". However, taller people will require more. You can see the range in the description, some can go up to around 20" whilst others are limited to around 16".
Manual or Electric for Dual Monitors?
| Manual (gas spring) | Electric | |
|---|---|---|
| Weight capacity | Often ~33–40 lbs | Often higher, up to ~80 lbs on some models |
| Effort | Light lever and a gentle lift | None, push-button |
| Price | Lower | Higher |
| Power | None | Needs an outlet |
If you have a lightweight monitor and only move a few times during the day then manual is fine. If you have a heavier set up or are constantly moving then electric is worth the extra cost. Mechanically, see how riser desks work.
When a Riser Desk Isn't Enough
If you have multiple (2-3) large monitors on arms and/or a heavy tower you may run into converter limits. A full height standing desk is ideal if you need:
More than about 50lbs capacity
Maximum stability when fully extended
See riser desk vs standing desk and our best desk for programmers guide for full-desk options.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best riser desk for dual monitors?
The best value option is the VIVO DESK-V036KB 36" with a 36" x 15.7" desktop, 33lbs weight capacity and around 20" height. The VERSADESK PowerPro 36" is rated for 80lbs if you need something heavier or have a button to adjust.
Can a riser desk hold two monitors?
Yes, as long as your total weight is within the limit and your platform is wide enough. Most dual monitor risers can support 33-40lbs, some electric ones can go up to 80lbs.
How wide should a riser desk be for dual monitors?
A dual 24" screen will require around 42" of space. Two 27" screens will require around 47". If using smaller or inward-facing monitors then a 36" platform will be sufficient. For larger screens then a platform between 42" and 46".
How much weight can a dual-monitor riser desk hold?
Most manual models will support around 33-40lbs. Electric models like the VERSADESK PowerPro can support up to 80lbs. Add together the weight of your monitors, laptop and accessories and allow for some extra space.
Do I need an electric riser desk for dual monitors?
Not necessarily. Manual gas spring models are perfect for light/medium dual monitors. If you have heavy monitors or move your desk a lot during the day then an electric model is a good investment.
Can I use monitor arms on a riser desk?
Sometimes. It will need a good back edge and the arm will add to your capacity. Some converters have dual monitor mounting. Be sure to check the size and weight capacities.
Will a riser desk wobble with two monitors?
Yes, as long as you don’t exceed the capacity and keep the weight centralised. Use a sturdy base desk.
Is a standing desk better than a riser desk for dual monitors?
Yes, if you have heavy or very wide set up. A full desk will be more stable and have higher weight capacity. For two light-medium monitors a good quality riser desk will work well and be much cheaper.
